Show Notes

A stunning one in five Americans struggle with illiteracy. While some might find addressing that challenge daunting, for British Robinson, who is the President and CEO of the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, it’s a mission and her calling.

British talks with me about her work at the Foundation, and how she learned to listen to her gut to help her navigate her career. She shares incredible advice and perspective for knowing how to pivot when a job isn’t working, how she leads and inspires her team, how she thinks about mentorship and feedback (the good, bad and sometimes ugly), and why having a “ride or die” partner (or two) by your side is so critical. She also talks about her faith and why regular, silent retreats have become her “secret sauce” for navigating life’s challenges. British is a tremendous voice of wisdom. Her positive impact on the world is both inspiring and unmistakable, and her Foundation’s namesake would no doubt be very proud of British’s commitment and leadership to the cause of illiteracy.
