Show Notes

Amy Flurry is a features writer and former editor for some of the biggest names in the magazine publishing world: Lucky, Country Living, Conde Nast Traveler, and House Beautiful to name a few. She’s also an expert at reinvention. Particularly important for our conversation today, Amy is an expert at helping others understand and fine tune their brand and personal story to align with editorial interests and need. She helps clients learn how to get attention for their ideas, product, or to sell their service and she teaches and consults to help individual influencers become experts at managing their own PR. Amy is also the author of “Recipe for Press: Pitch your story and create a Buzz” a beautiful book she self-published and has used to build and promote her own business for almost a decade. She’s also a featured speaker at national trade shows around the country.

With so many people taking a good hard look at jobs and careers and many making significant life and career changes, Amy’s advice has never been more important.

In this episode, Amy and I talk about:

How she designed and built her business and what you can learn from her experience;

How to think about monetizing ideas;

How to get attention for yourself and pitch your ideas to editors; and

How to think about self-publishing as a tool to sell your business, ideas and/or services (and Amy’s perspective and words of caution about ordering that first run of books!)

For anyone who’s trying to figure out what’s next, and how to take what you know and deploy it in a new way, I think you’ll find so much value in Amy’s perspective and insight! Let me know what you think! xo
