Ever wish for a hugely successful big sister or mentor — someone a few years ahead of you who had actually “been there/done that” — who could boil down practical, relevant life lessons and advice into smart, actionable chunks? The type of advice you could actually put to use!
My friend Dana Perino is just that person. She’s compiled her best advice into a terrific new book entitled: “Everything will be ok: Life Lessons for Young Women from a Former Young Woman.” She joins me in Episode 146 to talk about the book, the advice, and why it’s so important for women to support other women.
Many of you know Dana from her work as an anchor on Fox News Channel. She is co-host of The Five, co-anchor of America’s Newsroom, and an analyst for Fox election coverage and specials. She’s also a NYT bestselling author — three times over! In addition to her current book, other titles include: “And the Good News Is…Lessons and Advice from the Bright Side” and “Let me tell you about Jasper.”
Dana is also a history maker as the first Republican woman to assume the podium as White House Press Secretary for President George W. Bush.
Much of Dana’s off-air time these days is spent engaged in efforts to support other women. That includes her work with an organization called Minute Mentor, which she co-founded with friends Dee Martin and Jamie Zuieback. In fact, much of the advice in her latest book stems from questions Dana often received during Minute Mentor sessions.
I think you’ll find so much to love about this Episode and Dana’s terrific book. It’s great perspective whether you are just launching your career, or looking to pivot. As an aside, I was so honored that Dana included She Said/She Said Podcast in her list of favorites for career and life advice for women! I am truly grateful!!
Dana is also a repeat guest on She Said/She Said having joined me for Episode 100 last spring. If you missed it, be sure to check it out!
If you’re listening on your phone, please be sure to take a screen shot and tag us on Instagram and Facebook — @DanaPerino and me @LauraCoxKaplan to let us know what you think of the episode. Be sure to let us know what advice resonated with you!
