Title: “Are you underestimating your influence?”

Episode 241

Guest: solo

THIS WEEK’S TOPIC:

Every person we meet or interact with provides us with an opportunity for influence — positive or negative. That includes of course those with whom we spend most of our time, but it can also include complete strangers.

Social psychology professor Vanessa Bohns says we often underestimate, or fail to consider, our potential for influence. These can be powerful interactions and can have more of a lasting impact than realize.

I often talk about influence related to our careers. While this episode certainly contains some valuable career advice, it holds important value closer to home as well.

ABOUT THIS WEEK’S GUEST:  I’m solo this week

KEY TOPICS AND WHAT YOU’LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE:

EVEN WHEN WE ALREADY HAVE THE TOOLS FOR INFLUENCE we can still benefit from being reminded to use them.

WE HAVE MORE INFLUENCE THAN WE REALIZE: how are you using yours?

THE “COMPLIMENT STUDY” BY PROF. VANESSA BOHNS may cause you to reconsider that seemingly awkward compliment shared with someone else.

You compliment has more impact than you may realize!

HOW ASKING FOR HELP does more than just benefit the asker.
